Free web proxy

These is a USA proxy list. CGI script acts as an HTTP or FTP proxy. Through it, you can retrieve any resource that is accessible from the server it runs on. This is useful when your own access is limited, but you can reach a server that in turn can reach others that you can't. By default, no user info (except browser type) is sent to the target server, so you can set up your own anonymous proxy. US web proxy list:

It provides tools to keep a database of anonymous public proxy servers, check them and surf through them.

A HTTP proxy is a network device or application that sits between the client’s web browser and the web server. The proxy’s main job is to make requests to web servers on behalf of a client. This allows the proxy to offers several key benefits to the client systems. Proxies are often part of, or used in conjunction with, firewalls to allow internal users to access the public network without exposing the internal machines to direct attack. Such benefits are security, caching of web pages, content  iltering, web usages logs, and authentication.

If 2 proxies are used, one on the client side and one on the server side, they can authenticate each other and encrypt all data passing between the client and server, thus establishing a secure "tunnel" between them.  This tunnel protects the data from being viewed or modified by any software or hardware in the tcp/ip path between the two proxies.  This is important for protecting usernames, passwords, and other confidential data.
